Nokia Eseries

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nokia ESeries was a series of smartphones from Nokia , which is designed for business customers and thus represents the counterpart to the multimedia-oriented Nseries . The models in this series are based on the Symbian OS operating system with Nokia's own S60 user interface and, depending on the model, are aimed at specific user target groups in the business sector. These smartphones are characterized by extensive Internet, e-mail and office functions and at the same time they are lightweight (compared to a Nokia Communicator, for example ). Almost all models also have the expandability via RS-MMC, miniSD or microSD card in common. The devices are tri or quad band capable and can therefore be used internationally. The models equipped with WLAN allow this to be used for Internet telephony via SIP , which can easily replace a cordless telephone in the vicinity of the home WLAN router . On the go, the WLAN models can be used to use free hotspots for Voice-Over-IP telephony, and calls can be made without any mobile phone charges.

Models

Nokia E50

Nokia E50

The Nokia E50 is the entry-level phone in the E-series with the smallest form factor and weight. It's a quad-band phone; UMTS , WLAN and HSDPA are missing. Besides the E51 (E51-2 also has no camera) it is the only device in the Eseries that is available with or without an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera. In addition to the connection via the mobile network, the E50 can exchange data via infrared, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and USB (via data cable). It has functions for processing e-mails, but can only display and not edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents with the supplied version of the Quickoffice software. The editing option for Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents can be retrofitted for a fee. Also included is Adobe Reader LE 1.5 for displaying PDF documents, Macromedia Flash Lite and a program for extracting ZIP files. The E50 offers the possibility to have messages read out through the cell phone. It has a hot-swappable MicroSD slot for cards with up to 2 GB of storage space (i.e. no SDHC ). A BL-5C or BL-6C can serve as a battery.

Nokia E51

Nokia E51

The E51 is the successor to the E50 and has been improved a lot. This model has UMTS, HSDPA and WLAN and has a 2 megapixel camera integrated on the back. Since spring 2008, the Nokia E51 has also been available without a camera (model E51-2). This means that the device is still of interest to business customers today (2016), who are not allowed to use cell phones with cameras in their company or in external companies to protect trade secrets. The E51 is able to make calls via VoIP . The display has a resolution of 320 × 240 pixels and a diagonal of 2 "(approx. 5 cm). The internal memory is 130 MB and can be expanded by up to 16 GB with microSDHC cards. The model weighs 100 g. The standby time is up to 13 days.

It weighs 95 grams and has GPS, a 3.2 Mpix camera and a QVGA display with a motion sensor. The internal memory of 100 MB can be expanded by up to 16 GB using a microSD card. In addition to Bluetooth 2.0, it has a 3.5 mm AV connection for standard headphones and a micro-USB connection that supports USB 2.0. Due to the integrated battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh, stand-by times of up to 744 hours in GSM and 504 hours in UMTS networks are possible. The Nokia E55 is not available in Germany. The Nokia E52 is offered as an alternative .

The joystick of the E61 has been replaced by a 5-way navigation key and the E61i has a freely definable key and two shortcut keys for the phone book and for messages. Another difference is that the light-emitting diode on the top left of the phone now also flashes for SMS or missed calls - this was not possible with the E61.
