The Clear Lake ( English for Clear Lake ) is the deepest of the many frozen small freshwater lakes near the Cape Royds on the Antarctic Ross Island . It is located in the west-northwest area of Blue Lake .
The lake was mapped by participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907-1909) under the direction of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton .
