Clemens Flämig

Clemens Flämig (* 1976 in Dresden ) is a German conductor and has been director of the Stadtsingechore zu Halle since 2014 . In 2016 he was selected as part of a selection process alongside Markus Teutschbein in the final selection for the 17th Thomaskantorat after Johann Sebastian Bach .

Life

Clemens Flämig was born in Dresden in 1976 and was a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor . In 1995 he received the Rudolf Mauersberger Scholarship for his further musical training.

From 1996 to 2003 Flämig studied church music, choral conducting and singing at the music academies in Freiburg , Mannheim and Trossingen . Numerous master courses round off his musical education. In 2014 he took part in a master's degree in choral conducting with Jörg-Peter Weigle in Berlin .

In addition to solo duties, Flämig sang in various professional vocal ensembles in Germany and Switzerland after completing his studies.

Flämig worked as cantor and organist at the Georgskirche Denzlingen, in the Resurrection Church in Freiburg-Littenweiler and in the Protestant district cantorat Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. He was also an assistant in the Freiburg Bach Choir for several years . From May 2011 to October 2014, Clemens Flämig was Deputy Conductor of the Knabenkantorei Basel . In 2013 he also took over several rehearsals with the Camerata Vocale Freiburg . Since 2014 he has been regularly supervising performances by the J. S. Bach Foundation St. Gallen as a choir assistant.

Clemens Flämig has been the director of the Stadtsingechor zu Halle since November 2014 .

In the summer of 2015, Flämig was nominated for the office of cantor of the St. Thomas Choir in Leipzig. After rehearsing and performing sacred works for the motets and a Bach cantata with the boys' choir in rehearsal weeks, he was even in the final selection in 2016 alongside Markus Teutschbein . Gotthold Schwarz , who had already led the St. Thomas' Choir on several occasions and had not applied for the Thomaskantorat, was however proposed to the Leipzig City Council as 17th Thomaskantor after Bach on May 23, 2016 after the selection process had ended, and on August 20, 2016 introduced into the office.
