Clemens Kaufung ( November 23, 1867 in Engers am Rhein , German Reich - June 21, 1921 in Berlin , Weimar Republic ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ), singing teacher and film actor.

Life

The son of a businessman first worked as an elementary school teacher in Kön for a few years until he decided in 1890 to devote himself to the stage. From 1890 to 1893 he trained with Benno Stolzenberg and Wolfram Kundsohn in Cologne and made his debut at the Lübeck City Theater in 1893 as Max im Freischütz .

From 1894 to 1896 he worked at the Stadttheater Essen, from 1896 to 1901 at the Cologne Opera House, from 1901 to 1902 in Leipzig, from 1902 to 1904 at the Düsseldorf Opera House, from 1904 to 1907 at the Deutsches Theater Prague, from 1907 to 1911 at the Mülhausen Theater Alsace and from 1915 to 1916 at the Deutsche Volksoper.
