Clinton River Trail

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Clinton River Trail is a former railroad that runs on the south side from Auburn Hills, Michigan to Oakland County . This railway line was also called "Michigan Airline" (see en: Michigan_Air-Line_Railway ). Since 2003 this trail has been gradually made accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. It is part of a road network in Michigan that is still under construction. It is maintained by a private initiative and is available to the general public.

On the stretch between Northern Opdyke Road and Rochester there are numerous signs showing the history of the former railway line. The route is sloping from Northern Opdyke to Rochester. Today's route runs almost completely on the former track bed, only at intersections such as Auburn Hills Downtown there are slight deviations for traffic reasons. The route is open all year round. Parts of the track bed have been preserved for illustrative purposes.

The route accessible today ends on the south side of Downtown Rochester and merges into the Macomb Orchard Trail . On the west side is the West Bloomfield Trail towards Pontiac .
