Clip ( Serbian Klip ) is a feature and erotic film from 2012. Maja Miloš wrote the script and directed. The plot shows the everyday life of the adolescent girl Jasna between her family, school, parties, drugs and first sexual experiences. The film was released in 2013 with a German synchronous sound.

action

Jasna lives with her parents and her younger sister Milica in a suburb of Belgrade. Your father is seriously ill; the mother is taken with the situation and hardly has time for the pubescent girl. Jasna separates herself from her family as much as possible and spends most of her free time with her friends. The girls often go out secretly and in addition to alcohol also consume THC and cocaine. Their outward appearance and self-expression are very important to them. Jasna records many everyday, but also intimate situations with video clips on her cell phone.

She meets the boy Đole and falls in love with him. Đole goes to the same school and initially shows no interest in Jasna. Little by little she succeeds in attracting his attention. A purely sexual relationship develops in which Đole treats the girl rudely and pejoratively and avoids any bond. Nevertheless, Jasna is always looking for contact with him. Jasna is increasingly neglecting school. It happens more and more often that she stays away from class after a night of partying.

Her father's condition is noticeably deteriorating. A wealthy uncle from Qatar finally makes the vital operation possible by buying the grandparents' house in Gajdobra. The grandparents move into the family's small apartment. Jasna shows little interest in her father. She tries to hide his condition from her friends. When her class visits an orphanage, she realizes how precious a father is. Nevertheless, she finds it difficult to talk to her father about his illness.

She wants to reveal her feelings and worries to Đole, but he is not interested. The girl gets more and more into her courtship for him. Even her closest friends are losing influence. In the end, she even provokes the boy in order to win him over as a partner.

background

The film is set in post-war Serbia and documents the poverty and poor social security of a large part of the population. Public institutions such as schools and hospitals are sparsely furnished and are getting on in years.

The director was inspired by videos on YouTube in which young people portray themselves. It represents a sexualized youth looking for attention and profiling.

The film was shown for the first time on January 27, 2012 in the Netherlands at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. It premiered in Serbia on April 12, 2012.

Reviews

“In“ Clip ”Maja Milos describes contemporary Serbian youth as a lost generation who seek their salvation in extreme forms of sexuality. Despite the sex scenes that are stressful at times, the director manages to generate great sympathy for her young protagonists. "

"[...] Simijonovic (shows) that she can convince not only with a sexy look, but also with her acting talent."

- Heiko Thiele : Filmreporter.de

“With her debut film Clip (Klip) Maja Milos shot a real arthouse shocker. With stark realism, she penetrates a Serbian prefabricated housing estate and portrays young people who live in a distorted world. [...] The great strength of the film is that it does not want to heal this destructive relationship, but simply lets it exist. Between violence and the loss of self-esteem, two have found each other here who have also earned themselves. It is not surprising then that Milos ends her extremely uncomfortable love story with a happy ending that is like a slap in the face. "
