Clock Mill is a former watermill in the Scottish town of Tillicoultry in the Clackmannanshire Council Area . In 1972 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

description

The mill is on Upper Mill Street in the northwest of the city. Between the mill and the road runs the two-kilometer-long stream Tillicoultry Burn , which, coming from the north, runs through the Mill Glen valley and flows south of Tillicoultry into the Devonian . A bridge crosses the stream just north of the mill .

The textile mill dates from the early 19th century. The three-story building was built from rubble stone into the slope, with the windows being provided with colored bezels . On the eaves side, the windows on all three floors are arranged on nine vertical axes. Three further axes cross the southern gable surface. The main entrance is also located there. A clock is embedded in the gable surface. The elongated building closes with a slate-covered gable roof , in which numerous skylights are built. An undershot water wheel in the Tillicoultry Burn served to drive the machinery, which has since been removed. In the north there is a narrower and lower extension. Unlike the main building, it consists of roughly hewn, dark rubble stone. The windows are arranged on two axes on the eaves side and also set off with bezels. The bottom row of windows, which is part of the basement due to the slope, is bricked up on the river side. The entrance door is on the north side and is protected by a more recent porch. The part of the building ends with a slate-covered hip roof .
