The megalithic complex Cloghboola Beg ( Irish An Chlochbhuaile Bheag ) is located at Boherboy in Millstreet Country Park, in County Cork in Ireland , about 5.0 kilometers south of Millstreet . It consists of a damaged five stony stone circle ( English Five-stone circle ), a radial circle stone and the remains of stone rows .

Stone circles from the Cork-Kerry series

The 55 five-stone circles consist of a ring or a D-shaped arrangement of rarely more than medium-sized, single stones. Their diameter varies between 2.3 and 4 meters. Another group is called radial stone cairns ( Kealkill , Knocknakilla , Knockraheen 1 ) because the stones point with their narrow side towards the center.

The five-stone circle

The unusually high five-stone circle of Cloghboola Beg consists of four completely preserved stones from 0.85 to 1.5 m high and a 0.15 m high chipped remnant in the northwest. Two inwardly inclined stones form the so-called portal.

The Radial Stone Cairn

The radial stone circle with 19 low, radially set stones and a fallen stone about 0.9 m high in the center, is located south of the five-stone circle. He has a counterpart in the stone circle of Ballynakill in County Galway .

There are other large stones in the area that are said to have come from two rows of fallen stones.
