Clorinda Corradi
Clorinda Corradi Pantanelli (born November 27, 1804 in Urbino , † June 29, 1877 in Santiago de Chile ) was an Italian bel canto ( alto ) opera singer . She sang in operas by Donizetti, Rossini and Verdi in Italy, Spain, the United States, Cuba, Chile and Peru.
Life
Clorinda comes from a distinguished Urbino family who had economic problems. Because of this, she became a singer. She was born on November 27, 1804 in Urbino, the daughter of Filippo Corradi and Countess Victoria Peroli of Urbino. At the age of 19 she had singing lessons from the famous Filippo Celli. She had her first public appearance in 1823 in the theater of Recanati . She played the leading role in the opera L'italiana in Algeri by Gioachino Rossini . In 1825 she sang Pergola in the Florence theater and then in all the major Italian theaters. In 1830, when she was just 26, she sang in the opera Le comte Ory by Rossini in the Canobbiana Theater in Milan. She sang with famous singers like Duprez, Mariani and Galli.
In the fall of 1835 she moved to Cuba and sang in the famous Teatro Tacoma in Havana . From 1835 to 1840 she sang in Peru and New Orleans (Louisiana). In 1844 she finally moved to Valparaíso in Chile and then to Santiago. In 1856 she gave up singing and became a teacher at the Conservatory of Santiago de Chile . In the course of her life she got a lot of recognition and made a lot of money singing. Nevertheless, she died on June 29, 1877 with no fortune.
