Club governance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term club governance describes informal cooperation and coordination mechanisms between two or more countries. In contrast to the institutionalized forms of international cooperation - such as the United Nations (UN) or the European Union (EU), such transnational cooperation is characterized by a weak degree of institutionalization and generally a small group of participants.

Club governance represents a possibility of global policy making and cooperation and is therefore counted among the forms of global governance . Well-known examples are the informal meetings of the heads of state of the G8 (formerly G6 / G7 ), G5 or G20 , the IBSA dialogue forum (India-Brazil-South-Africa-Forum) or the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
