Coalhurst is a city in the Canadian province of Alberta .
The place formerly called Bridgend is located on Highway 3, about 10 km from Lethbridge . Coal was mined in the tunnels here until the 1930s . An explosion that left 16 dead ended operations.
Coalhurst has an elementary school and a high school, as well as a train station.
