Coconuts Musume ( Japanese コ コ ナ ッ ツ 娘。 , Kokonattsu Musume. ) Was a girl group under the Hello! Project . The specialty of this group compared to the rest of the Hello! The project was that all members came from Hawaii , outside of Japan. Her songs consisted of both Japanese and English lyrics. Coconuts Musume existed as an act until 2008. The name officially ended with the departure of Ayaka Kimura. The group itself was active from 1999 to 2001.

history

In 1999 Sharam Q member Makoto discovered the five girls of the original line-up at a singing competition called the "Pacific Dream Pop Singer Competition" in Hawaii. Impressed by her performance, he asked the producer Tsunku to sign her. In one episode of ASAYAN , the girls were shown to a larger audience. They were introduced as rivals for Morning Musume . Their first single, which was a cover of the then most recent Morning Musume single, exacerbated this rivalry.

In 2000, Chelsea and April left the group to continue school. They also didn't speak Japanese, which made life in Japan difficult for them. In order to enlarge the group again, casting was organized . The winner Lehua Sandbo joined the group in the second generation. A year later, Danielle also left the group to go to college in Hawaii. The remaining three members released one last single in August 2001. In 2002, Lehua also left the group to be closer to her family. Another casting was held for new members, but this time there were no winners.

The remaining two members, Mika and Ayaka, continued to join Hello! Project concerts. In 2004 Mika went to California to study music and singing. Ayaka remained the last member as Coconuts Musume Ayaka until 2008, when she briefly announced the Hello! Project and Up-Front left.
