The Codex Athous Laurensis ( Gregory-Aland no. 044 or Ψ; von Soden δ 6) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament that is dated to the 8th or 9th century. The manuscript is not completely preserved.

The manuscript consists of almost the entire New Testament (except for the Revelation of John ) on 261 sheets of parchment with gaps (Matthew; Mark 1: 1-9.5 and the last sheet of the Letter to the Hebrews are missing). It has a format of 21 × 15.5 cm. The text is in a column with 31 lines. Accents , alcohol asper and lenis are available.

The manuscript contains the Ammonian Sections (Mark 233), the Eusebian Canon , and Neume .

The Catholic letters are arranged in an unusual order: 1–2 Peter, James, 1–3 John, Jude.

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Alexandrian (Mark, Cath.) Or Byzantine text type (Lukas, Johannes). It is assigned to category III .

Mark 11.26, 15.28, and the pericope John 7.53–8.11 are missing.

This manuscript contains the variant θεος εφανερωθη in Tim 3:16.

history

The codex is kept in the monastery of Megisti Lavra (Lavra B '52) in Athos .
