Colin "Col" Needham (born January 26, 1967 in Manchester ) is a British entrepreneur . He is one of the four founding members and managing director of the world-famous Internet film database Internet Movie Database (short form: IMDb).

Live and act

In 1990 Col Needham founded the IMDb. At that time he was still working full-time as an engineer for the Hewlett-Packard company in Bristol . In the summer of 1996, when the IMDb's very first advertising campaign for a film - Independence Day by Roland Emmerich - started, Col Needham quit his job at Hewlett Packard and went on to work as a paid and full-time employee for the IMDb, which in the same year due to the increasing Number of users and data converted into a company. Col Needham has been managing director of the company since 1998, when Amazon.com bought IMDb.

Col Needham has been married to his wife, with whom he has two daughters, since 1989. He lives with them in the English satellite town of Stoke Gifford , a suburb of Bristol.
