history

The school was founded by a group of Swiss citizens in Bogotá with the aim of giving their children an education that would allow them to return to Switzerland and complete university studies there. Classes began in 1948 in a house at the intersection of Carrera 7 and Calle 48 on the outskirts of Bogotá. At the beginning there were 48 pupils who were spread over the kindergarten and four primary school classes and were taught by five Swiss teachers. In 1953 the school was able to move into the new building designed by a Swiss architect at the intersection of Calle 128 and Carrera 71A. 1981 was the first senior year of a class taught in German, previously only French lessons were offered.

concept

The educational program is regulated by Educationsuisse and sponsored by the cantons of Bern and Valais . 72 teachers from Switzerland, Colombia and France teach around 770 students at the school. The school's highest qualification corresponds to the Matura in Switzerland and the Colombian Bachillerato .
