Colin from Halkett
Colin Freiherr von Halkett (born March 2, 1816 in Osnabrück , † February 22, 1879 in Celle ) was an officer and member of the German Reichstag .
Life
Halkett came from a family with a military tradition, he should not be confused with Sir Colin Halkett (1774-1856), who fought at Waterloo .
Colin attended high school in Celle, entered the royal Hanoverian military service as a lieutenant in 1832. He served with the Guard Hussars, most recently as commander of the Queen Hussar Regiment. Halkett was for many years with the personal staff of King Ernst August and was entrusted with some foreign missions.
Between 1878 and his death he was a member of the German Reichstag as a welfe and as a guest of the German Center Party for the constituency of Hanover 14 (Celle, Peine, Gifhorn).
