The Collegiata Church (Italian: Collegiata dei Santi Gervasio e Protasio ) is a well-known church in Bormio , Italy . It is dedicated to the patron saints of the city , Saints Gervasius and Protasius .

The Collegiata Church was first built in the 9th century, but then rebuilt after being nearly destroyed in a fire in 1621 . Gaspare Aprile from Carona TI , builder and entrepreneur, built the new collegiate church from 1628 to 1640. Little is left of the original building apart from a few frescoes. The very well-preserved fresco on the arch of the vault is particularly well-known . It depicts Jesus Christ in a mandorla between the evangelists , the prophets and the apostles . The painter of the fresco, which is dated 1393, is unknown. In addition, the two white marble portals next to the main entrance belong to the old church - only visible from the outside - with frescoes from the 13th century in the lunettes , which show the Holy Virgin Mary together with Saint Protasius.

In the church there are a number of beautiful handicrafts in typical baroque style. These include a wide apse and eight side chapels that house interesting paintings and wood carvings by local artists. Particularly noteworthy is the wooden organ from the 17th century with rich floral decorations and carvings as well as the portraits of Gervasius and Protasius .
