The Collegium Musicum of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is a student symphony orchestra in Karlsruhe .

history

The orchestra finds its roots in the forerunner "Academic Orchestra" founded in 1925. After the war it was re-established in 1966 as the “Academic Chamber Orchestra”. There were hardly any students at the time.

In 1967 the orchestra was renamed to its current name. In the course of this, under the musical direction of Rainer Baum and the organizational direction of Alexander Voigt, the orchestra changed. In the 1970s it became a symphony orchestra, where, since then, students have been represented more often.

Current orientation

The symphony orchestra is currently oriented towards the classical, romantic and classical modern periods.
