Bruno Kiesler
Bruno Kiesler (born December 22, 1925 in Stallupönen ; † June 10, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ). For many years he was department head of the Central Committee of the SED and a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR.
Life
The son of a telegraph worker completed an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic from 1940 to 1942 after attending primary school . From 1942 to May 1945 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and the Wehrmacht . In Eutin he was taken prisoner by the English .
After returning from captivity in 1945 he started out as a coachman on the von Itzenplitz family estate and became chairman of the anti-fascist youth committee in Grieben . After the land reform in 1946 he became a tractor driver for the VdgB in Grieben. In March 1946 he became a member of the KPD , in April 1946 the SED and the FDJ . He worked temporarily in his father-in-law's farm, and when the state-owned machine rental stations (MAS) were established in 1949 , he worked again as a tractor driver.
In October 1949, he was the first in the GDR to use device coupling when ordering fields. In the branch office Grieben of the MAS Köckte he followed the call of the FDJ Central Council “FDJler auf die Tractors” and achieved maximum performance by coupling devices based on the Soviet model, meeting the standard of 200 percent. For this he was honored as a young activist on October 11, 1949, referred to as " Hennecke der Landwirtschaft" and on October 7, 1950 by President Wilhelm Pieck with the National Prize of the GDR III. Class honored for science and technology.
On December 4, 1949 he was on the III. State delegate conference of Saxony-Anhalt of the SED in Halle elected as a member of the state board. In July 1950 he took part in the III. SED party congress in Berlin and was elected to the presidium of the party congress. In 1950 he became a member of the federal executive committee of the FDGB (until 1955) and a member of the People's Chamber (until 1986). First he belonged to the FDJ parliamentary group, since 1957 the SED parliamentary group.
From 1950 to 1952 he acted as chairman of the state board of Saxony-Anhalt of the IG Land- und Forst. In 1951 he attended the SED state party school in Ballenstedt and in 1952/53 was head of the Magdeburg district administration of the machine and tractor stations (MTS). In the 1950s he was a member of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg.
From 1953 to June 30, 1959 he was deputy chairman of the Magdeburg district council and responsible for agriculture. In 1956/57 he was acting chairman on behalf of Paul Hentschel, who was studying in Moscow . At the same time he was a member of the District Day Magdeburg. From 1953 to 1957 he completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law "Walter Ulbricht" in Potsdam and at the Institute for Agricultural Economics in Bernburg, where he graduated as an agricultural economist . From 1955 to 1959 he was a member of the Central Council of the FDJ .
From 1959 to 1981 he was head of the agriculture department of the SED Central Committee (successor to Karl Götz). He was a candidate since 1967, and from 1971 to 1986 he was a member of the Central Committee of the SED. From 1968 to 1983 he was a member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the GDR (AdL). Kiesler was instrumental in the introduction of industrial production methods in agriculture and the operational separation of plant and animal production. From 1963 to March 1982 he was deputy chairman of the People's Chamber Committee for Agriculture, Forestry and Food Industry. On November 30, 1984, he was elected to replace the late Willi-Peter Konzok as a member of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the People's Chamber.
In November 1981 he was replaced as department head of the SED Central Committee due to conflicts with the SED's economic policy and replaced by Bruno Lietz . In 1981/82 he was director of the newly created project-technological AdL Institute for the rational use of energy and from 1982 secretary, since 1986 chairman of the revision committee of the League for Friendship of Nations . He retired on December 1, 1990.
