Bruno Lietz (born November 22, 1925 in Wormstedt ; † May 11, 2005 ) was Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Food in the GDR .

Lietz trained as a car mechanic from 1940 to 1943 , joined the NSDAP in 1943 and was a soldier in the German Wehrmacht until 1945 .

From 1945 to 1947 he worked as a car mechanic in Apolda , then until 1949 as a tractor operator in Wormstedt and until 1952 as a tractor operator, assistant and technical manager of the machine rental stations in Apolda, Holbach and Krölpa .

Between 1952 and 1954 Bruno Lietz was sector leader for political mass work in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 1954–1961 employee or sector leader for LPG and MTS in the Agriculture Department of the Central Committee of the SED and from 1961 to 1972 Secretary for Agriculture of the Rostock district management .

Lietz became a candidate in 1963 and a member of the Central Committee of the SED in 1982. Between 1972 and 1981 he was Head of Agriculture and Food Management of the State Planning Commission, from 1981 to 1982 Head of the Agriculture Department at the Central Committee of the SED and 1982–1989, as successor to Heinz Kuhrig, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Food Management. From 1986 to 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber .

Lietz died in 2005 and was buried in the Berlin-Kaulsdorf cemetery.

Bruno Lietz was awarded the Labor Banner in 1976 and 1984 and the Karl Marx Order in 1985.
