Colosseum Ridge is a mountain ridge in the Darwin Mountains of the Transantarctic Mountains . It looms between Haskell Ridge and Richardson Hill .
The ridge includes pyramid-shaped mountain peaks and five large mountain basins . The shape of the latter is reminiscent of the Colosseum in Rome , which contributed to the naming of the mountain ridge. The naming and mapping was done by participants in the 1962 to 1963 campaign as part of New Zealand's Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions .
