Colpa quinquecincta is a hymenoptera from the family of the dagger wasps (Scoliidae).

features

The wasps have a body length of 8 to 17 millimeters (females) or 9 to 15 millimeters (males). The females are either completely black or their second and third tergites are red, they have no yellow spots. The hair is white. The forehead has a shiny transverse groove above the feeler deflections. The forewings have two cubital and two discoid cells each. The rails ( tibia ) on the hind legs have two narrow spurs, one of which is blunt and the other pointed. The males are black and have yellow spots on the pronotum , postscutellum , tibia and tergites. On the tergites there is a laterally and centrally widened transverse band. Two discoidal and two to three cubital cells are formed in the forewings. The two spikes on the rear rails are pointed.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in southern Europe with the exception of the Iberian Peninsula and in the Aosta Valley. It is not known which species parasitize the larvae .
