Michele Brown

Michele Mary Brown , born as Michele Mary Mason , (born July 3, 1939 ) is a former Australian high jumper .

Career

At the age of 17, Brown took part in the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne and finished sixth with 1.67 m skipped in the third attempt. At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958 , she won the gold medal with 1.70 m. Four years later, she was third at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in 1962 with 1.73 m.

Brown celebrated her most important international success at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. With a jump of 1.80 m, she won the silver medal behind Romanian Iolanda Balaș (1.90 m) and before Taissija Tschentschik (1.78 m) , who started for the Soviet Union .

At the end of her career, Brown won the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston in 1966 with 1.73 m for the second time since 1958.

Michele Brown is 1.71 m tall and weighed 55 kg when she was active.
