The Columbus Glacier is a 13.5 km long glacier on the border of Alaska ( USA ) and Yukon (Canada).
The 5.5 km wide Columbus Glacier forms the eastern part of the Bagley Icefield . The nutrient zone is located at an altitude of 2000 m just under 4.5 km east of the border on Canadian territory. In the east it borders the Seward Glacier , which flows to the east. The Columbus Glacier flows west. It is flanked in the south by the mountains Mount Saint Elias and Mount Huxley . The Columbus Glacier extends west to the confluence of the Quintino Sella Glacier .
When Luigi Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta , Duke of Abruzzo, first climbed Mount Saint Elias on July 31, 1897 and saw the glacier north of it, he named it after Christopher Columbus .
