history
Comatose Vigil was founded in Moscow in 2003 as Subhuman Abstract. Even in the early days, the group went through various line-up changes. The band has released demo and test recordings for download and cassette. After the demo recordings met with a positive response, the label Stygian Crypt Productions contacted the band and offered the group to release an album on the sub-label Marche Funebre Productions , whereupon the band made their debut Not a . From March to June 2005 in the Navahohut studio in Moscow Gleam of Hope recorded. The album was released in November of the same year as the sublabel's second release. The album received little international attention, but if it was discussed it was given an appreciative positive.
In September 2006, Comatose Vigil signed a contract with the Moscow label Solitude Productions , where the EP Narcosis was released that same year . The EP was mostly positively received internationally. However, the EP aroused expectations of the band to present themselves in full length. In particular, personnel difficulties, including bassist Dmitry Petrukhin died in 2009 from an overdose, delayed work on another studio album. With Fuimus, Non Sumus ... appeared in the recorded Primordial Studio and Greg Chandler of Esoteric mastered album in September 2011. A few months after the publication of the average to well-received album, the group announced in early 2012 announced their separation. After the musicians tried to reactivate the band in 2014, which resulted in a renewed separation in 2016, there were disputes over the use of the name between Andrey "iEzor" Karpukhin and Alexander "ViG'iLL" Orlov. In the wake of the differences, Karpukhin founded a follow-up project under the name Comatose Vigil AK
style
The music of Comatose Vigil is assigned to Funeral Doom. For the Doom-Metal.com website, the game form presented by the group is described as “extremely epic” and “majestic” as well as a “desolate” variant of the genre. As a comparison, reference is particularly made to the band Tyranny . In the review of the debut album written for the webzine Chronicles of Chaos, reference is also made to Tyranny, but the band is nonetheless certified as independent. According to the review, "lethargic riffs create a heavy and oppressive atmosphere that would be enhanced by minimalistic drumming and keyboards." The singing was initially distorted, but later and mostly held as a guttural grunt . Similarly, the music for the webzine Metal.de is described as "[s] sluggish, ultra-slow funeral doom with a very intense, emotional note carried by keyboards and well-rehearsed strings".
