Life

Oparin studied from 1969 to 1974 at the geological - geophysical faculty of the University of Novosibirsk (NGU). Then he worked at the Institute of Mining Affairs ie Berg Sciences (IGD) of the Siberian Department (SO) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN SSSR, 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)) in Novosibirsk . 1976–1978 he was an aspirant with Michail Michailowitsch Lavrentjew in the data center of the AN-SSSR in Moscow (named after Anatoly Alexejewitsch Dorodnitsyn in 2015 ).

Oparin then returned to the IGD and in 1985 head of the Laboratory for Mining - Geophysics . In 1988 he received his doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences . In 1997 he was elected a corresponding member of the RAN. In 1998 he became Vice Director for Scientific Work and in 2003 Director of the IGD, succeeding Mikhail Vladimirovich Kurlenya . In 2008 he was appointed professor . In 2013, Oparin resigned from the position of director of the IGD, which has been named Nikolai Andreevich Tschinakal since 2010 , and the candidate of technical sciences Andrei Sergeevich Kondiegenko became head of the IGD. Since 2014 Oparin has headed the department for experimental geomechanics at IGD.

The focus of the scientific work was and is on the states of tension in rock blocks , their measurement and their effects. The focus was on the dynamic effects of earthquakes , rockfalls and explosions on rock reactions, the self-organization of geomaterials with the formation of cellular structures, the acoustic signals of catastrophic events and the non-linear elastic waves .
