Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve ( CJTF-OIR for short ) is the task force of an international alliance against the Islamic State . The Federal Republic of Germany is also a member of this alliance.

The task force was established in October 2014. The logo was introduced in December 2014. The command was initially Lieutenant General James Terry ( United States Army ) and is now Major General Gary J. Volesky .

As of mid-December 2015, the cost was $ 5.53 billion. The balance sheet included the destruction of 20,000 targets by air strikes. The 82nd Airborne Division is used for training purposes.

From August 2014 to January 2019, the allied forces carried out 33,931 air strikes. In the process, 1,257 civilians were officially accidentally killed.
