Comedy slam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Comedy Slam is a stage format that can be assigned to cabaret . The format is a talent competition from the multi-faceted field of comedy , which primarily young artists use to try out themselves and their numbers in front of an audience. The audience decides who wins an event.

Origin and development

The origin of the format lies in the concept of the poetry slam , which is internationally widespread. In contrast to the poetry slam, a rather puristic format with a focus on the spoken word of the artist, the comedy slam usually allows aids such as music and props. The first Comedy Slam in Germany was held in Trier in 2004 .

procedure

The specific sequence of a comedy slam varies depending on the organizer. However, it is usually the case that all artists at an event are divided into two groups (preliminary round). The artists then perform their numbers, often with a given time limit. The audience votes, for example by applause, which artist will reach the final. In the final, the selected artists compete against each other in the same mode and the audience decides who will ultimately win an event.

Master Comedy Slam

In the so-called “Master Comedy Slam”, winners from previous events compete against each other. The Constantin Comedy Prize is awarded annually in Trier. Winners of the Constantin Comedy Prize were Faisal Kawusi (2014), Özcan Coşar (2013), Manuel Wolff (2012), Maxi Gstettenbauer (2011), Stefan Waghubinger (2010), Stefan Rosenland (2009), Georg Krächter (2008), Tobias Mann (2007), Sebastian Krämer (2006) and Matthias Seling (2005). The first Düsseldorf Master Comedy Slam took place on November 2nd, 2012. The winners in Düsseldorf will receive the “Lachbarschaftspreis”. The 2012 winner was the Swiss comedian Alain Frei . Maxi Gstettenbauer won the 2nd Master SLAM in Düsseldorf on May 23, 2014.
