Alain Frei (* 1983 ) is a Swiss comedian, cabaret artist and actor . He has appeared in the Quatsch Comedy Club and NightWash , among others, and is a permanent member of RebellComedy .

Life

Frei was named after the French film actor Alain Delon . He grew up in the Swiss canton of Solothurn . In 2004 he came to Germany. He completed an acting training at the Free Drama School in Hamburg from 2006 to 2009 and then discovered his comedic talent. After completing his training, he played touring theater for a year . In 2010 he gained his first experience on stand-up stages . He made his first appearance in the Quatsch Comedy Club . Frei achieved greater fame in 2011 at the RTL Comedy Grand Prix . In the same year Frei joined the comedy group RebellComedy . In this multicultural group, consisting of various comedians of different nationalities, he is considered a kind of "quota German". Since then, he has performed both with his ensemble and solo at NightWash ( Eins Plus ), the Quatsch Comedy Club ( Pro7 ), Nuhr from 18 ( ARD ), the StandUpMigranten (EinsPlus), at the RTL Comedy Grand Prix, the Stuttgart Besen ( SWR ) or nuhr in Erste (ARD). He gave the debut of his first solo program Neutral was Yesterday in 2013. Two years later, the second program followed. All people are different ... the same! .

In the course of his career so far, Frei has won numerous cabaret and comedy awards ( see section Awards (selection) ).

He is under contract with MB Events & Promotion and has lived in Cologne for several years.

style

In his stand-ups he plays with the cliché of the German-speaking Swiss and is known as the "strange Swiss who comes from a distant, exotic country". Favorite topics are, besides the peculiarities of the Swiss, social networks and everyday racism . He describes American stand-up comedy as influences , in particular Dave Chappelle and Louis CK . Bayerischer Rundfunk describes Frei as a representative of the "new generation of cabaret". His appearance is "[f] right, modern, intelligent, black-humored, with an eye for the absurd and unbelievable joy in playing".
