Louis CK , real name Louis Székely (born September 12, 1967 in Washington, DC ), is an American - Mexican stand-up comedian , actor , screenwriter , director and producer. In addition to his comedy programs it is especially for his autobiographical colored television series Louie known in which he played the title role and also responsible for directing and screenwriting recorded.

Life

CK's stage name is an English approximation of the correct pronunciation of his Hungarian surname Székely. He was born in Washington, DC , but spent his early childhood in Mexico City and is a Mexican citizen. CK's mother, Mary Louise (née Davis), a software developer, is of Irish descent from the United States, and his father, Luis Szekely, is a Mexican economist of Jewish - Hungarian descent. CK's parents met at Harvard University .

At the age of seven, CK moved from Mexico to Boston with his parents and developed a desire to become a writer and comedian. He was particularly inspired by Bill Cosby , Richard Pryor and George Carlin . When he was ten years old, his parents divorced. CK and his three siblings grew up with their mother in Newton, Massachusetts .

After graduating from Newton North High School, CK worked as a car mechanic in Boston. His first attempt as a stand-up comedian was in 1984 at an open stage , where he was given five minutes but only had material for two minutes. This experience kept him away from comedy for the next two years. Gradually, CK managed to get paid gigs. He appeared in various comedy clubs and as an opener for Jerry Seinfeld until he moved to Manhattan in 1989 .

CK has written for The Late Show with David Letterman , Late Night with Conan O'Brien , The Dana Carvey Show, and The Chris Rock Show , among others . His work for The Chris Rock Show was nominated three times for an Emmy Award and won in 1999 in the category "Best Writing in a Variety or Comedy Series". He was also nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on Late Night with Conan O'Brien . His feature film Pootie Tang is based on a sketch on The Chris Rock Show by Chris Rock . This film received very negative reviews, but it became a cult film. In 1998 he wrote and directed the independent black and white film Tomorrow Night . This film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival . He also wrote various short films, including six in 1995 for the sketch show Sunny Skies. In 2008 he was nominated again for an Emmy for his work Chewed Up . CK co-wrote Chris Rocks, Down to Earth in 2001, and in 2007 I Think I Love My Wife .

Stand up

CK appears repeatedly as a stand-up comedian in shows such as Late Show with David Letterman , Late Night with Conan O'Brien , Lopez Tonight , The Tonight Show with Jay Leno or in Jimmy Kimmel Live! . August 2005 CK took part in the half-hour HBO special one-night stand . In 2006, CK's own one-hour HBO special Shameless was released . On March 1, 2008, Louis recorded his stand-up special, Chewed Up , which aired on Showtime on October 4th . In a 2010 interview, CK described his return to stand-up as a year and a half of work to come through the divorce from his wife.   • During an interview with US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on the Opie and Anthony radio show , Louis asked CK Rumsfeld if he was actually a “Mexican baby-eating space lizard, who eats the poor” (a “space lizard, the Mexican one Babies and poor people eats ”) is. Private life

CK was married to artist and painter Alix Bailey, whom he divorced in 2008. From this marriage he has two daughters and shares custody.

Sexual harassment scandal

On November 9, 2017, the New York Times published a report that found five women accused CK of sexually molesting them over the years. In particular, comedians Dana Min and Julia Wolov said that CK exposed and masturbated in front of them in 2002 . Even Rebecca Corry and Abby Schachner reported similar incidents, also mentioned CK that had later apologized to them. The premiere party for CK's film I love you, Daddy and several TV appearances by the comedian were then canceled. On November 10, 2017, he admitted in a written statement to the Huffington Post that the allegations against him were true, expressed his regret and announced that he would withdraw from the public until further notice. Netflix and the channels HBO and FX also announced the end of the collaboration with Louis CK.
