Circon Verlag GmbH (until August 2018 Compact Verlag GmbH) is a German publisher based in Munich and was founded in 1976 by the publisher Friedrich Niendieck. In October 2008, for reasons of age, Niendieck announced the sale of his publishing group to the European Professional Publishing Group (EPPG). Since September 2014 the publishing house has belonged to Vermar GmbH, based in Berlin. Circon Verlag has a wide range of publishing houses with around 50 new publications a year. In addition, licenses are issued in over 35 countries. As a compact publisher, Circon Verlag was not associated with the magazine of the same name . One of the main reasons for the name change was to avoid future confusion with this magazine.

Publishing program

One focus of Circon Verlag is in the field of »foreign language acquisition« and includes learning books, learning aids, language courses, dictionaries and reference works, including the registered series “ Compact Lernkrimi ” with its didactic concept for language learning. This series, which started in autumn 2002, comprised (as of 2015) around 150 titles in English , French , Italian , Spanish , Dutch , Swedish , German as a foreign language / German as a second language , Russian and Portuguese. The foreign language program appears in the imprint Circon Lingua.

Another focus is with the imprint Circon learning worlds on elementary education and reading for first-time readers.

In the former imprint compact via, books from the areas of »Advice«, »Knowledge & Education«, »Cooking & Enjoyment«, »Health & Fitness« and »Creative in Home & Garden« were published. This imprint was changed to Circon Circonia in August 2018, which now focuses on family, gift book and entry albums.

The fourth pillar of Circon Verlag GmbH is the imprint Circon Circolino, (formerly compact kids), which has its main focus in the area of »children's knowledge« and deals with current topics in a child-friendly manner.

The publisher has been operating under the name Circon Verlag GmbH since August 2018. It is a pure name change, all other data of the publisher have not changed. However, the direction of the program has changed significantly since the publisher was founded: The focus is now on the core areas of languages, education, children's knowledge and gift books.
