Compagnie Energie Electrique du Togo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Compagnie Energie Electrique du Togo (abbreviated: CEET ) is a state energy supplier in the Republic of Togo with its headquarters in the capital Lomé .

history

CEET was founded in 1963 to ensure the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy in Togo. Until the energy reform, CEET worked together with energy suppliers from the Republic of Benin . After the reform of the electricity industry in Togo, CEET was designated by the government in 2000 as the sole company that is responsible for the public distribution of electrical energy in Togo.

In 2010, CEET had a turnover of 36 billion CFA Francs and an average growth rate of 4% per year.

CEET power plant

In October 2010, the newly built CEET thermal power plant with an output of 100 megawatts went online. This means that CEET is now not only able to cover Togo's entire electricity needs (around 80 to 85 MW), but can also sell electrical energy, which previously had to be partially imported from Ghana, to the West African Power Pool .

The thermal power plant was built by the US company Contour Global and is a so-called tri-fuel technology power plant. The generators can be fired with natural gas as well as with heavy fuel oil or alternatively with diesel . The location of the power plant directly on the southern coast of Togo on the Atlantic Ocean is important for the raw material supply of the power plant.

Distribution network

In order to distribute electricity to end customers, CEET operates around 20 other small power plants and transformer stations . CEET maintains a medium and low voltage network of more than 4000 kilometers in length.
