Compsobuthus acutecarinatus is a scorpion species from the family of Buthidae . The small distribution area is limited to Yemen and Oman .

C. acutecarinatus is one of the large species of the genus Compsobuthus with a total length of up to 50 mm . The prosoma is yellowish, clearly keeled and moderately granulated, the area around the eyes is blackish. The mesosoma is strongly granulated and dark yellow to reddish brown, the distinct keels are darker. Legs, pedipalps and most of the elongated tail ( metasoma ) are yellowish, the front two-thirds of the fifth link ( tergite ) are clearly defined, dark reddish brown. The poison bladder and base of the poison sting are yellowish, the tip of the sting is brown. The pedipalps and scissor hands (chela mani) are narrow and long. The cutting edges of both the fixed and the movable finger have 9 to 11 rows of teeth. The pectene has 20-23 teeth in the female and 27-29 in the male.
Distribution, habitat and way of life
The small distribution area is limited to Yemen and Oman . C. acutecarinatus inhabits arid habitats such as semi-deserts and deserts and can be found in sand, earth or under stones during the day. The species is not harmless to humans.
