The Compton Lagoon is a lagoon in the northeast of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean . It is located at the mouth of the Compton Glacier between Gilchrist Beach and Fairchild Beach .
The lagoon is named in connection with the glacier of the same name. Its namesake is G. S. Compton, an assistant geodesist in a 1948 campaign of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions in this area.
