The Computer Zeitung , founded in 1970 for the first CeBIT , was the first West German computer newspaper . In 1964 in the GDR, computing technology / data processing appeared, a magazine that quickly developed into a specialist magazine.
The publisher was Konradin Verlag Robert Kohlhammer in Leinfelden-Echterdingen , the editor-in-chief was Rainer Huttenloher.
The Computer Zeitung appeared weekly on Monday in the Berlin newspaper format . It had a widespread circulation of approx. 59,800 copies (printed circulation approx. 60,000), of which approx. 24,000 copies were sent to the members of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e. V. were sent. The magazine was produced using newspaper printing. In the first quarter of 2009, 22,000 copies were sold.
After a message from the President of the Gesellschaft für Informatik to its members, Konradin Verlag ceased production of the Computer Zeitung on July 27, 2009.
The Computer Zeitung was continued in an online version until October 2009. This was also discontinued on October 17th. The URL www.computerzeitung.de has since been redirected to the appearance of the magazine Bild der Wissenschaft, which is published by the same publisher .
