Concord Dawn is a New Zealand drum and bass group founded in 1998 . Until 2010 it consisted of the two musicians Matt Harvey (Matty C) and Evan Short (Kiljoy). Since then, Matty C has appeared under the name alone.

history

Her first, self-titled album was released in 2000 on the Kog Transmissions label. After a related tour in New Zealand, their second album, Disturbance, was released in April 2001. This won the 2001 bNet Music Awards for “Best Electronic Album” and “Best Independent Release”. With their third album Uprising , they also gained more international attention for the first time. It was released in New Zealand in September 2003 and achieved gold status after just three months . At the 2003 BNet music awards, they subsequently won the “Best Song” award for “Morning Light” and “Most Radio Play”. At the 2004 awards, they received the “Best Album” and “Best Electronic Release” awards for her album Uprising. They were also nominated for “Best Electronic Act” at the New Zealand Music Awards that year . In 2005 their fifth album Chaos by Design was released , which was also very well received by the critics. Concord Dawn was subsequently nominated at the “UK Drum and Bass Awards” 2009 in the categories “Best Tech DJ”, “Best International Act” and “Best Producer”. Chaos by Design also achieved gold status in New Zealand.

In 2010, the two musicians finally separated after realizing during their long collaboration that they were developing in different directions. Matty had lived in Vienna for some time and performed in Europe, while Evan stayed in Auckland and performed in New Zealand, Australia and the United States. Matty kept the Concord Dawn name and continues to produce new tracks. Evan Short received most of the studio equipment and has since concentrated on working as a sound engineer and producer, for example for Shapeshifter's album The System is a Vampire . On September 20th 2010 Matty's new album The Enemy Within was released in New Zealand.
