The Condicinae are a subfamily of the owl butterflies (Noctuidae). The species are predominantly nocturnal ( moths ).

features

The species are relatively small and slender. Many species have distinctive color patterns. The antennae of both sexes are simple. The forehead of the head is completely scaled, the eyes naked and without lids. The labial palps are relatively large, the tympanum membrane has a nodular sclerite . The males are characterized by a slender uncus, part of the male sexual apparatus.

Geographical distribution and habitat

Most species of the subfamily occur in forested regions of the tropics of the ancient and especially the new world. Some species are also adapted to open areas. Some species have also become known as pests, while others undertake long migrations .
