Condorcet is a large impact crater on the eastern edge of the front of the moon , on the southeastern edge of the Mare Crisium , southwest of the Hansen crater . The crater floor is level, the crater wall has terracing .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French mathematician Marie Jean Antoine Nicolas Caritat, Marquis de Condorcet .
