Conger is a genus from the family of Meeraale (Congridae). The species of this genus include some of the largest eels, some of which can reach a total length of up to three meters.

features

Congers are snake-like, scaleless fish with a pointed snout, horizontally flattened head and vertically flattened tail. The large terminal mouth extends below the eye and has one or two rows of teeth, of which the teeth of the outer ones are pushed together and form a continuous cutting edge. The gill opening is large. The dorsal fin begins above or just behind the pectoral fins . The lateral line organ is well developed and runs along the entire side of the body with 30 to 50 pores. The body is a monochrome brownish or dark gray with a lighter belly, only Conger cinereus can have a striped pattern.
