The Congress-Centrum Saar GmbH (CCS) is the operating company of the two event halls Congresshalle and Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken . The two halls are among the largest event locations in the Saarbrücken region.

Companies

The company is the local organizer of various events in the two venues and works with various agencies and service providers. The Premabüba carnival event is its own production . According to the company, around 500 events per year are held in the two sites.

The company is 80% owned by the federal state of Saarland and 20% owned by the city of Saarbrücken, whereby the city of Saarbrücken has a voting right share of 25.1% and thus a blocking minority according to the contract. The company holds stakes in Kongress- und Touristik Service Region Saarbrücken GmbH (20%) and in Tourismus-Zentrale Saarland GmbH (5%).

Managing directors are Ralf Kirch and Michael Hoppstädter, the chairman of the supervisory board is Gerd Bauer (as of November 2019).

history

The company was founded in 1994 and both halls, which were previously independent, were brought together under the roof of the new GmbH. The Saarlandhalle was previously owned by Saarland Sporttoto GmbH, while the Congress Hall was owned by the City of Saarbrücken.

Franz Zeithammer was one of the managing directors from the end of 1996 to the beginning of 1998 , whose activities as a tourism manager (including at the Völklinger Hütte ) led to a committee of inquiry and a conviction for infidelity .

Despite annual sales of around 2.1 million euros in 2009, CCS posted a loss of 4.4 million euros this year. In 2011, the shareholders therefore no longer wanted to work with the managing director Wilfried Blickle. Stefanie Paul became provisional managing director for an indefinite period of time, then Willy E. Kausch and Ulrich Nierhoff were appointed managing directors, but both of them resigned a year later.

In 2016, the Congress Center Saar was a regional partner and co-organizer of the national IT summit of the Federal Ministry of Economics .
