Constantinos Lycourgos

Constantinos Lycourgos (* 1964 ) is a Cypriot lawyer and judge at the European Court of Justice .

Lycourgos studied law at the University of Panthéon-Assas , where he obtained his Diplôme d'études approfondies in European Community Law in 1987 and obtained his doctorate in 1991. iur. received his doctorate. He then worked as a speaker at the Center de formation permanente at the Panthéon-Assas University and was admitted to the Cypriot bar in 1993. In 1996 he moved to the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked as a special advisor for European affairs to the Cypriot Foreign Minister. From 1998 Lycourgos was a member of the negotiating team for Cyprus's accession to the European Union and a member of the Greek-Cypriot delegation in the negotiations on the Cyprus conflict . From 1999 to 2014 he worked for the Legal Service of the Republic, most recently as the main legal representative and director of the European law department. From 2004 he was also the representative of the Cypriot government before the courts of the European Union. Lycourgos has been a judge at the European Court of Justice since October 8, 2014 .
