Consummatum Est ( Latin It is accomplished ) is a funeral doom and gothic metal band founded in 2003 .

history

Consummatum Est was founded at the end of 2003 by singer, keyboardist and bassist Emanuele "Vastitas" Telli, singer Federica Sciamanna and drummer Daniele "Aggressør 616" Valeri. Even before the first demo recordings, the band took in Michele Arnone as a guitarist. In April 2005 Consummatum Est released the self- published debut album Funeral Procession . Sciamanna, Valeri and Arnone left the band that same year. Telli subsequently operated Consummatum Est as a solo project with guest musicians. While he was producing a demo in 2006, the Canadian label Made with Hate released the debut again. In October 2008 Telli took Serena "Moerke" Mastracco on as a full band member. Together, again with the help of various guest musicians, both played the second album Hypnagogia . Hypnagogia was released in July 2010 via Silent Time Noise . In 2013 the debut was released again, this time through GS Productions .

Meanwhile, Funeral Procession and Promo 2006 hardly received any response, Hypnagogia received international praise. Most reviews indicate that Consummatum Est cannot be considered unique or pioneering in the genre. Nevertheless, the music is special, of high quality and has a hypnotic effect.

style

The band's first musical ideas were based on black and gothic metal . In the meantime, the musicians changed this initial direction within the first rehearsals. The band already presented their first self-released album with a crossover of Gothic Metal and Funeral Doom . The webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the music played by Consummatum Est on Funeral Procession as "raw and dirty Funeral Doom". Promo 2006 was judged to be a continuation of the tradition of an Italian Death and Funeral Doom underground and compared with MonumentuM , Ras Algethi and Cultus Sanguine . Consummatum Est presenting so Kostas Panagiotou for Doom-Metal.com, on the demo the "unmistakable Italian style" of particularly low-tuned guitars, distinctive and Funeral typical keyboard accompaniments "and Italian largely pathos in the compositions." With Hypnagogia games the group compared to the debut "a more polished and noble Funeral Doom", so on the second album primarily a "Symphonic Funeral Doom with Beauty-and-the-Beast vocals," an alternating vocals between deep male growls and female ones that is often sought after in Gothic Metal Soprano singing , "make out". For a classifying comparison, reference is made to the early work of the band Funeral .
