Historic Coppenrath fine bakery

The Coppenrath pastry GmbH based in Geeste is a manufacturer of fine pastries .

history

In 1825 Heinrich Coppenrath opened the country bakery "Coppenrath" in Geeste / Groß Hesepe in Emsland. In the following years the company continuously expanded its product range. The bakery range was expanded to include the Coppenrath honey cake , which became a fine pastry hit in the 1830s and 1840s, and the production of rusks.

In 1924 Aloys Coppenrath (fourth generation) intensified the business. The first trucks expanded the trading radius. After the death of Aloys Coppenrath during the war, his wife, Änne Coppenrath, continued the company.

Under Franz Coppenrath (fifth generation), who ran the family business from 1948 after the early death of his father, the company was realigned, away from the country bakery and towards a modern large-scale bakery. In 1970 the company begins expanding its sales activities abroad.

Aloys Coppenrath , a brother of Franz Coppenrath, founded the company Coppenrath & Wiese together with Josef Wiese in 1975 .

The entire manufacturing facility was destroyed in a fire in 1978. Thanks to the solidarity and commitment of the employees, the new factory building was built in just two months.

Andreas Coppenrath succeeded his father in 1995 after the death of his father. He continued the expansion and especially expanded the export activities.

In 2009 the biscuit factory Gebrüder Lembcke GmbH & Co in Schwarzenbek was bought and in 2012 the Freudenberg Dauerbackwaren GmbH in Großröhrsdorf in Saxony. The production of both companies was merged in Großröhrsdorf.

Coppenrath employs around 300 people and supplies pastries to over 60 countries worldwide. Up to 120 tons of baked goods are delivered worldwide every day.
