The Coppermill Stream is a watercourse in Walthamstow in the London Borough of Waltham Forest . It arises west of the Maynard Reservoir and flows south to its confluence with the River Lea at the southern end of the Warwick Reservoir .
From the 14th century to 1857, a copper mill was operated on the Coppermillstream , then the mill became a gunpowder factory, paper mill , leather factory and oil mill . The mill was then used to generate energy in the construction of the reservoirs surrounding the watercourse and was demolished in 1941.
