The Cordillera Darwin is a mountain range in southern Chile .
It is located on Tierra del Fuego at the southern end of Chile and belongs to the Chilean Región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena .
The mountains are named after Charles Darwin , who sailed the area with the ship HMS Beagle on his South America voyage from 1831 to 1836.
geography
The mountains form the last great elevation of the Andes before the end of South America . It reaches a height of almost 2500 m , lies west of the Argentine city of Ushuaia and extends as far as the Rolando and Brecknock peninsulas . In the south lies the Beagle Channel and in the north the Almirantazgo Fjord . The mountains are criss-crossed by many glaciers .

Practically the entire Cordillera Darwin belongs to the huge Alberto De Agostini National Park . Here are the huge calving glaciers De Agostini and Marinelli , which are very popular tourist destinations.
