CoreAVC is a proprietary H.264 - Decoder , which is being developed by Core codec.

In 2006 it was one of the fastest software decoders, so that it even comes close to some hardware-based decoders. This makes it possible to play lower resolution AVC videos on computers with less power and higher resolution on computers with more power. CoreAVC supports all H.264 profiles except 4: 2: 2 and 4: 4: 4.

CoreAVC is part of the CorePlayer Multimedia Framework.

Platform independence

In 2008 the decoder was ported to a variety of platforms . Windows, Mac OS X and Linux as well as the embedded systems PalmOS, Symbian, Windows CE and Windows Mobile are currently supported, with the Linux version only available for OEMs .

CoreAVC runs on 32- and 64-bit x86 and on PPC (including AltiVec support), ARM9 , ARM11 and MIPS . In terms of graphics processors, Intel 2700G , ATI Imageon , Marvell Monahan and (limited) Qualcomm QTv are supported.

Nvidia CUDA support

On February 10, 2009, CoreCodec released an update to CoreAVC with support from Nvidia CUDA . CUDA enables decoding to be accelerated with certain Nvidia graphics cards.
