Corina Gericke (* 1963 in Hildesheim ) is a German animal rights activist .

Life

Corina Gericke was born in Hildesheim in 1963 . After her training as a medical-technical assistant , she first studied veterinary medicine in Hanover . In the 'Zoology for Veterinarians' course, she refused the mandatory animal sections and switched to the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1994 she received her license to practice medicine and was awarded a doctorate in medicine. med. vet. on the Animal Welfare Act before working as a veterinarian in England for 3 years (until 1998).

Corina Gericke has been an active anti-animal experimentation opponent and animal rights activist since 1984. In 1988 she was co-founder of SATIS , the student working group against animal abuse in studies, and later on the board of the association for years. Among other things, she advocates for the animal rights movement and the public to take greater account of the criticism of science in the argument against animal experiments.

From 1999 to 2007 Gericke was a specialist at the Federal Association of People for Animal Rights - Bundesverband der Tierversuchsgegner eV From 2001 to 2011, she worked as a research assistant at Doctors Against Tierversuche eV . Since 2011 she has been deputy chairwoman at Doctors Against Animal Experiments .
