Cork Film Festival

The Cork Film Festival is an annual film festival in Cork , Ireland . It was founded in 1956 and has developed into an internationally known festival, especially in the field of short films .

The Cork Film Festival is one of the oldest European festivals and celebrated its 55th anniversary in November 2010. In 2007 it was renamed the Corona Cork Film Festival until sponsorship was withdrawn in 2012. The program consists of a broad mix of blockbusters , foreign films, independent films , documentaries and short films from all over the world. The festival also provides a broad platform for Irish film. Since 1956, the festival has been growing both in the number of performances, visitors and media coverage. The festival is thus attracting a steadily growing interest from film buffs , filmmakers and the general public. By March 2013, Mick Hannigan was Festival Director and CEO for nearly 30 years. Una Feely was also creative director of the festival until March 2013. Séan Kelly is currently the manager of the Cork Film Festival.
