mythology

Cormac's mother is named Clothru, a sister of Queen Medb of Connacht .

In Longas mac nUislenn ("The Exile of the Sons of Uislius"), Cormac is sent by his father Conchobar mac Nessa as the leader of three guarantors to Deirdre and Naoise to persuade them to return. But since the king is betraying and has Naoise murdered, Cormac, together with the two other guarantors, Dubthach and Fergus mac Róich , goes to Connacht full of anger to King Ailill mac Máta and Medb to avenge the betrayal (hence his nickname Conn Longas ) . In Táin Bó Cuailnge ("The cattle robbery of Cooley ") he then fights together with the Connachtern against the Ulter with their main hero Cú Chulainn , but without denying his ancestry and his sympathy for Ulster.

When his parents asked him to become king after the death of his father, he and his companions were ambushed and murdered by robbers in a hostel on their way home.
