Cornelia Gödecke (born May 29, 1960 in Kropstädt ) is a German politician (formerly SPD ).

Life

After graduating from high school, Gödecke trained as a skilled worker in a pig breeding company from 1978 to 1980. Between 1980 and 1986 she worked for the Museum of German History in Berlin as a specialist for collection maintenance and as a secretary. From 1986 to 1991 she studied history and German folklore at the Humboldt University in Berlin . Gödecke is mother of one child.

Between 1991 and 1994 she was the equal opportunities officer .

In 1994 she was at the Brandenburg state election as a list candidate of the SPD in the Potsdamer parliament elected. She was a member of parliament from October 11, 1994 to September 29, 1999. In the state parliament, she was a member of the committee for science, research and culture as well as the main committee . In 1999 Gödecke was not re-elected to the state parliament.

As managing director of the Königs Wusterhausen local radio station KW , Gödecke also came under public criticism when the station broadcasted advertisements for the controversial clothing brand Thor Steinar in December 2006 and January 2007, which is particularly popular in the right-wing extremist scene . The clothing brand presented the speed camera reports (i.e. announcements of speed controls in road traffic) from the radio station. There were protests and calls for a boycott against the station, which the SPD district administrator Martin Wille also joined. Gödecke defended the advertising contract, among other things, by stating that the legal examination had shown that there were no legal concerns, only moral ones. The police stopped broadcasting the speed camera reports and the Sparkasse temporarily froze funds from the station as a result of the protests. The SPD distanced itself from Gödecke as the broadcaster's managing director; according to information from the district parliamentary group leader Rainer Schloddarick, she was excluded from the SPD in 2007 .
